“Even one person who sits and occupies himself with Torah Hakodosh Boruch Hu establishes a reward even for him …” The Orach L’Chaim questions the use of the word “kovei’a – establishes” instead of “nosen – gives”. He cites the gemara in Sotah 21a that the commission of an aveiroh has the capacity to cancel the merit of a mitzvah, but it will never invalidate the study of Torah. As a result, the reward for Torah learning is irrevocable.  |
