Rabbi Chanina ben Tradyon says: If two sit together and there is no divrei Torah between them, it is a get-together of scoffers, as it says, “In the assemblage of scoffers he does not sit.” However, if two sit together and words of Torah are between them, the Divine Presence rests between them, as it says, “Then those who fear Hashem spoke to one another and Hashem listened and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear Hashem and think of His Name.” From this we know about two people; how do we know that even if one person sits and occupies himself with Torah, Hakodosh Boruch Hu establishes a reward even for him? As it says, “Let one sit in solitude and be quiet, for he will have been given his reward.” |
